Here's the Popular Mechanics list of 50 tools everyone should have:

I've BOLDED the ones I/we own, and italicized the ones on our "must get SOON" list, and underlined the "why bother" ones:
So, if you feel like it, copy and paste the list to your LJ and follow suit.

I've BOLDED the ones I/we own, and italicized the ones on our "must get SOON" list, and underlined the "why bother" ones:

- Center punch
- Putty Knife (of all kinds; Sarah is the spackling queen, and I like them for scraping paint)
- Safety glasses (I don't wear them often because I have glasses, but we have lots for Juergen and also some for glass torch work)

- Pipe wrench (Juergen really wants a LARGE one)
- Socket Wrench Set
- Metal File
- Combination Square
- Combination Wrench
- Bow saw (I want one but can't justify it now)

- Hacksaw (we have 2)
- Cross-cut saw
- Snips
- Roundnose shovel (in 2 sizes!)

Date: 2009-05-04 05:27 pm (UTC)Which I haven't really needed, so far. I can use several of my other saws (cross-cut, miter, gentlemans, coping) or power tools (circular, table, jig, scroll). The only time I was truly tempted, I borrowed a chain saw instead. :-)

Now, if I can find a supply of those, the fact that we have few of the listed tools (but of some we have lots... like pliers!) wouldn't stand in our way and more would get done.
