Last night I tried grilled mushooms in my toaster oven (under the broiler).
I had a package of baby Bellas. I washed them, cut off the ends, and put them gills down on a rack in the tray. When I checked them about 5 minutes later, I decided to turn them gills up and was happier with that.
I put butter, salt and pepper on them when they were done, then added some verjuice. They weren't bad. But I looked back at the Rumpolt suggestions, and saw:
" Take Redling Mushrooms/ peel and wash them off/ salt and pepper them/ lay them on a Grill/ and roast (fry)/ baste with Butter/ and give warm on a Plate/ strew them with Pepper and Salt/ thus it is also good and well tasting."

I think adding pepper and salt before cooking, plus basting with butter, would improve the flavor.

Where the heck did you get real verjuice from?

Well, I happened to have an opened bottle in the fridge of some verjuice that I bought at Pennsic from the Pepperer's Guild http://members.cox.net/periac/pepperers.html

Christopher and I also found some at his local Shop-rite (they were having a cheese tasting weekend) which had been ordered in from Maggie Beer (it's an australian vinyard): http://www.maggiebeer.com.au/
[They also have a book on verjuice: Maggie Beer's Cooking with Verjuice ISBN: 0-14-300091-8 RRP: $22.95]

Comparison note: the Pepperers' guild one is sweeter and more like a very light, somewhat tart white grape juice; Maggie Beer's has a more malic acid flavor, giving a flavor reminiscent of crab-apples, so it's tarter but still drinkable.
