Wow. Amaebi linked to the Walkability Score calculator, "that scores the ease with which one could live as a pedestrian at a given address"-- http://www.walkscore.com/
Much becomes opaque when I realize that my current residence has the lowest walkability score of anyplace I've ever lived in the Lehigh Valley- 42. Curiously, the place I lived in Emmaus, which was eminently walkable, has low score too, but most of the other place I've lived in were in the 70s and 80s.

This is being discussed a lot in my local town's mailing list. Basically, since their database of destinations is quite incorrect (for example, listing a local specialty book publisher as a "book store", and so forth) it is all quite suspect.

I got really bad results for my neighborhood too; like a 40 when (based on their matrix) I'd probably rate it more like an 80. ::shrug:: It's a cute idea, but...

Don't feel bad, I scored a zero! The closest thing to ME is five miles away. Er, in fact, my closest neighbors are more than a mile away.

I scored a zero. It would probably have been very slightly higher if Google realized that the park VISITOR's center is a couple miles away, but the park itself borders our property (the other side of the dirt road). Still, no, nothing other than the park within reasonable walking distance. But having an acre and a half pond in your front yard and 48 acres to roam this close to the city is worth it ;-)

Our current place has a walkability score of 38.
My parents' place scores a pitiful 15.
Our place on Lafayette St in Williamsburg has a score of 80. That's one reason I liked the place.

Coopers Lake Campground scores *three* (3)... except, as we know, for this week and next, which the site cannot be expected to take into account.

My walk score is 35. That’s not so bad I should say. This service can be rather useful especially for those who are going to buy a house or just want to estimate their present location. So as it turned out my neighborhood is quite walk able. I have also tried one more service at http://drivescore.fizber.com/ It is called Drive Score. With the help of it you can see how close establishments are by car. My result is 50.
