Obscurification. Or something

Notes from previous conversations:
I looked in the OED. Crivens is indeed a mild-ish exclamation of Scots flavor, derived from 'Christ' (possibly + 'heaven'), in the same way that Jeepers is from Jesus. Unless there is a religious objection, though, I suspect 'Jeepers'-- favorite exclamation of Trixie Belden (to whom maziemaus and subsequently becamus will be introduced in due time, i.e. when I find the first book upstairs)-- is much more age-appropriate.

Phrases from literature that I can't escape. Bonus points for those who guess the source:
"Strong as a little French Horse"
"Bears is sixpence extra. Sticky bears, ninepence."
"Last line!"
"You may give up cooking at once, and paint your bald head silver."
"Do you know how many mortal sins that entails?"
"bump bump down the stairs on the back of his head"
"Dad's being a passenger again"

I *loved* Trixie Belden! I used to read those books and all the Little House books, and there were 2 other series I read... what were they... I had a few of my mom's Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew... OH! There was a trilogy with Misty of Chincoteague (sp?) and a bunch of Black Stallion or Black Beauty books... Read them over & over when I finished my library books and it wasn't time to go back yet...

That "bump bump down" line rings a bell... Haven't a clue on the rest though...

See now I feel silly... I *thought* the horse one sounded familiar too after I posted that... I've read Winnie the Pooh too of course... Hehehe...
