For those familiar with Bethlehem, PA
Aug. 28th, 2007 12:50 pmThere's a section in Fountain Hill township that has streets named after Indian tribes. Cherokee, Seneca, Delaware, Michigan, Sioux, Ontario, Alaska, Seminole, Mohican, Uncas, Pawnee, Dakotah.
The main road, Wyandotte, it turns out, is also named after an Indian tribe. Wyandot is the original, native name of the tribes referred to as Huron. Drew has two books on this particular indian language, both about Jesuit missionary efforts.
(There's also an Itaska street which may be related to Lake Itasca, where there is an Indian burial ground...)
