Cool flower book
Apr. 24th, 2006 01:35 pmBefore Christmas, I came across this book in a used book store:
A Victorian Flower Album: God's Floral Gems, Glistening on the verdant face of nature. Collected and painted in the summer evenings of 1873, as a pleasing recreation. by Henry Terry. It's a modern reproduction, admittedly. But ghod it's gorgeous. Watercolor paintings of a wide variety of wild and domesticated flowers, done with a delicate hand, labelled with (victorian) latin name and common name, season, and other notes. I justified buying it as a present for a friend, but it's become clear that the person in question doesn't want it, so I get to keep it! Yay!
