After a visit to Mom's Nursery

Or something like that. Traditionally, I go visit my mother in the spring and we get out the plant pots and the little shovel and I get plants from her. I don't know why I keep doing this; after all, after the first year, I should have plenty, right?
This year, of course, I didn't have much, so I'm an easy mark. Plus we really do need more hosta for the shady areas out front and under the wierd needle chestnut out back. Leaving aside the fact that we were using 5-gallon pots, I got away relatively unscathed with:
- 2 pots of daylilies
- 1 pot (a single big clump) of betony
- 1 pot (a broken up clump) of comfrey
- 2 pots of lemon balm
- 1 pot of hostas
- 2 pots of tansy
- 2 pots of rooted hydrangea stems -- (Sarah's anniversary hydrangea is looking peaked)
- 1 huge clump of forget-me-not
- 1 pot of assorted johnny-jump ups
Between getting up early this morning and some heavy work tonight, I got everything except the hosts, betony, and some of the lemon balm planted
We also went to the greenhouse down the road (we were having an emotionally charged discussion, so we bought plants. Go figure.) About $12 got me
- 1 minature carnation
- a 4-pack of multicolored verbena
- two 4 packs of marigolds
- a 4 pack of white nicotina
- a 6 pack of small violas
- two 4-packs of snapdragons (different pinks)
- a 4 pack of colored coleus
- a 4 pack of dianthus
I can't wait to be able to put them out in the garden; they should make a rainbow display
maziemaus will love.
