bunnyjadwigaYes, I'm trying to start a meme: five phrases you use in everyday conversation that you have to explain to most people.
1) cellarway: the stairway down to the basement, and any surrounding structures/storage. Can be used for the outdoor entrance or the indoor one.
2) davenport: a sofa, specifically of the more hard and unyielding kind
3) farmer tan: tanning of only the lower arms, face, and back of neck.
4) kepa clip: a hair clip barette (of the kind formerly called a pincurl clip), so called because Orthodox boys use them to keep their yarmulkes on.
5) serials: journals or magazines, to a librarian
