Other than DIY or wetnursing, were there any other options? Besides the baby dying, I mean.
Several things were tried, usually involving either a) animal milk fed through a horn with a cloth nipple, or b) "pap" or "posset"-- a thin grain and milk preparation cooked thoroughly and fed either through a horn or with a spoon. Both were emergency measures, though.
