Books: Miss B. Guest Blogs

I've promised that we would discuss books that young ladies who are ardent Harry Potter fans would like. So, Miss B. will be reviewing: Juniper and Wise Child both by Monica Furlong.

Miss B. says:

I liked them both a lot, because they were each told by the person who was experiencing them. I like stories like that. And they both had very fun adventures.

Juniper is about a girl who has a godmother who is a doran, in other words a witch-- a good one. Juniper learns to be a doran too.
In Wise Child the story continues with another character who gets adopted by Juniper. The messenger of Juniper's father (Juniper was a princess) happens to be Wise Child's father. He is away on a trip and in the end they meet each other again.

That's all folks, and have a good night.

...but in Edward Eager novels, the children always say that they hate "I" books-- and I can rememebr feeling that way myself, as a child!

Miss B has heard the Chronicles of Narnia books but hasn't read them herself as of yet. She is almost 9. Bunny has been feeding her books to read for a while now and there doesn't seem to be any way to stop her! (that's good)

My daughters and I loved Wise Child, Juniper, and Colman (the last in the "series").
Miss B might also like the Jenny Nimmo books about Charlie Bone. Philip Pullman's Dark Materials series -- The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass -- would be another possibility.
I will look through our shelves for other possibilities, if you are looking for more ideas.
We love to read around here!

Oh yes! Miss B. loves the Charlie Bone books and went as Olivia Vertigo for Halloween.

Now *that* would be a blast to assemble. Excellent choice of character!
