Iron Chef America grumbles
Jan. 25th, 2005 06:29 pmOk, after watching Iron Chef America for the third time on Sunday (hey, it's more academic than the ghastly football games), I have come to several conclusions: a) Jeffrey Steingarten is a bought-out ringer for Bobby Flay, and of the breed who thinks it's funny to be nasty. One of the few nice things about graduating from F&M was to get away from Humanities Professors of his upbringing. b) Not only is Mario Batali the tv food chef I'd most like to be in an SCA kitchen with, but I think I have a crush on him. [For those of you who are familiar with the history of my love life, this should not surprise.] c) Bobby Flay reminds me of those guys who come into the SCA kitchen, usually toasted, and swan about how they are professional chefs, until you hide the knives and make someone take them away and give them beer, lest someone gets hurt. The man sets fire to more things than I do when cooking.
