I can't speak for anyone else, but if the formulae cannot be verified, they're unsafe until verification has been made. I wouldn't want to be the guinea pig. It'd be the same as heading off on an amusement park ride after the ride was built, but before the park put the ride through a run with weighted mannequins in the cars.
